What is Ads.txt? All You Need to Know | How to Create Ads TXT file?

What is ads.txt & how do you use it? The ultimate guide to ads.txt file

We'll look at getting an ads.txt file today, and how it allows Google to sell your inventory. Ads.txt, also known as Authorized Digital Sellers, has been finalised by the IAB tech lab. An ads.txt file is an IAB initiative that makes sure that your digital ad inventory is only sold to sellers you've designated as registered, such as AdSense. Having your own ads.txt file gives you more power over who is allowed to sell ads on your site and helps you avoid having fake inventory delivered to advertisers. Please note that while an ads.txt file is not mandatory for your site, we strongly advise you to do so.

How Does Ads.txt Work?

An ads.txt file will assist consumers in identifying counterfeit inventory while also allowing you to earn more advertiser spend that would have gone against that fake inventory otherwise. To ensure that advertisements run on your site, make sure your publisher ID is specified correctly in your ads.txt file. Google actively endorse and participate in industry initiatives to protect the digital advertisement environment from counterfeit inventory. As a result, Google Adsense has been implementing this feature in its ad systems ever since.

How to Create, Update and Implement Ads.txt ?

To create an ads.txt file that officially declares that Google is allowed to sell your ad inventory, you'll need to do three things:

  • First, create a text file;
  • Second, add the following line inside the file: google.com, pub-ooooooooo, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0;
  • Third, host your ads.txt on your root domain, not the subdomains.

For instance, since techflecks.xyz is a root domain, the ads.txt file for this Website can be found at techflecks.xyz/ads.txt.

Pleasee note that if you do not own the root domain but it has an ads.txt file, you must contact your web developer and request that your publisher ID be added to that file. These instructions will walk you through the process of creating an ads.txt file for Google AdSense publishers. For information about how to create an ads.txt file for other SSPs or exchanges, consult their documentation or email them. I hope this explanation of the ads.txt file and how to authorise Google to sell your ad inventory has been helpful.
